The Scottish Classic Motorcycle Club (SCMC) promises to respect any personal data you share with us, or that we receive about you from other organisations, and keep it safe. Here we tell you what we will and will not do with your information.

What personal data we collect and how we use it

When you become a member of SCMC we will collect the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your postal address
  • Your telephone and/or mobile number
  • Your email address
  • If you sign up for the Scotia Challenge we will also collect the registration number of your motorcycle/s
  • If you attend an event supported by SCMC, we may use any photographs of you/your motorcycle in the Banter and/or display them on this website

We will use your data to:

  • Keep you informed about club activities
  • Email you a copy of the Banter, the club’s digital magazine, each month
  • Provide your name and postal address to the Scottish Vintage Vehicle Federation so that they can send you a copy of their annual year book
  • If applicable, we will use the details of your motorcycle/s to verily your Scotia Challenge award category

How we collect information about you

We collect the personal data that you provide to us directly e.g. on your Membership or Scotia Challenge application form/s.

How we keep your data safe and who has access

  • We commit to putting appropriate controls in place to protect your personal data and to ensure that it is only accessible by individuals approved by the SCMC committee.
  • We undertake regular reviews of the information we hold to confirm whether your personal data still needs to be retained. If you tell us you are giving up your membership of SCMC, your personal data will be removed from our database immediately. If your membership lapses through non-renewal, we will retain your data for up to 6 months to allow you time to respond to renewal reminders.

We may need to disclose your data, if legally required to do so, to the police, regulatory bodies or legal advisors but we will not share your data in any other circumstances unless we have your explicit and informed consent.

When we may communicate with you

We may communicate with you in a number of ways:

  • We may contact you via email or telephone to inform you about upcoming club activities
  • From time to time we may need to contact you with an administrative query e.g. about membership or Scotia Challenge matters or to update your consent preferences

If you don’t want to receive communications from us, please let us know by email and we will make sure your wishes are complied with.

We do not sell or share personal details to third parties for marketing purposes.

Keeping your information up to date

You have a right of access to your personal data.

You may ask for a copy of the information we hold about you – if you spot any mistakes, you can let us know and we will correct them.
